WHEN THE WORLD GRIEVES - June 30th, 2006: Germany defeats Argentina in the Quarterfinals by a penatly-kick shootout.

In the strange episodes of life, there comes a time when warriors weep. When passion is stabbed and hearts bleed. When war chants turn into a cold silence. It was a long and hard fought battle that lasted 15 days and terminated with 120 intense minutes. The penalty kick became the death penalty for Argentina.
48 hours ago, time stood still. The world gasped with cruel fear as the blue-shirted German with iron gloves collapsed towards his left....disturbing the joyous journey of the infamous ball of futbol and bringing it to its dreaded and sudden death.

June 30th will always be remembered as the day when even the dogs stopped their barking for it is in that darkly day that Argentina was defeated by Germany in the World Cup tournament of 2006 in a penalty shootout.

We say goodbye one last time. Don't cry for me Argentina, the truth is I never left you.....we will be back to the land of South Africa in 2010, home of the next World Cup. Until then, may the passion live on. Goodnight.

WALMART!?!?!?! You were shopping at Walmart during the game!?! Out of the 35,040 hours you have to shop outside of the game time, you chose to go to Walmart during the 2 hours of futbol! Hey, but you are right, we'll be back in 2010. (Actually, I hope we celebrate a "world cup" in heaven with evey nation, tribe, tongue, and people.)

I was in England that day. I didn't see it either. But at least I was not in Walmart. The most memorable days of the world cup on my trip were when France beat Spain (the noise went on until 2 a.m.) and when U.S. and Italy tied--I was in Rome and the air was deathly quiet as everyone was shocked...

Dear Martinology -
We lament the delay in any more posts - our addiction needs to be fed. The consumer must be satisfied! Okay, so we are looking forward to the next post.
Good day!
